WASHINGTON — The Washington Friends of Music will ring in the new year with a New Year’s concert and party at the Frederick Gunn School Thomas S. Perakos Arts and Community Center in Washington. The event will start on January 1st at 4pm.
“Artistic director and world-renowned cellist Wendy Sutter has created a wonderful program featuring Vivaldi, Torelli and Telemann that is sure to please the audience,” the members said in a statement. “12 renowned artists, including the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and the principal player of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, perform on trumpets, 2 cellos, 4 violins, 2 violas, guitar, double bass and harpsichord, a magnificent performance. David Krause, principal trumpeter of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, performs Giuseppe Torelli’s Trumpet Concerto “Estienne Roger 188” in D major.
Krause has performed as a soloist with the All-Star Orchestra on the Emmy Award-winning PBS series and has appeared as a guest principal trumpeter with renowned US orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony and New York Philharmonic, according to Members. . Milan Milisavljevic performs Georg Philipp Telemann’s Viola Concerto in G major.
