Music video platform Vevo has partnered with TikTok to create and program a new weekly show called Trending on TikTok.
This show brings together music videos of the most popular songs on TikTok and clips of creators using these songs in their content.
“Trending on TikTok” is available on the Vevo network in the US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil.
Vevo also said it will be a “major TV premiere” on Vevo’s FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) channel, which will air continuously during “peak” viewing times during the week.
Trending on TikTok joins Vevo’s line of original programming, including Pop Video Weekly, Hip-Hop Video Weekly and Somos Video Semanal. Each of these shows similarly summarizes their respective official music videos, which Vevo says “viewers need to know.”
The Vevo and TikTok partnership follows the expansion of the music video platform in the connected TV (CTV) space with partnerships such as Amazon Freevee, Hulu Live and Plex.
In an interview with MBW last month, JP Evangelista, senior vice president of content, programming and marketing at Vevo, said the platform “will continue to focus on TV” over the next year.
He added: Since Vevo has an advertising-based model, we will continue to develop innovative advertising products/packages for brands, ultimately bringing more revenue to artists and their teams. ”
“TikTok has become a force for music discovery for fans around the world, driving higher ratings for music videos.”
JP Evangelista, Vevo
Commenting on the Vevo and TikTok partnership, Evangelista said:
“When a song is trending on TikTok, people actively seek out and watch music videos for that song on the Vevo network.
“Entering the creator economy was the next logical step in showcasing the power of fan communities on social media and how it facilitates the music discovery process.
“We combine years of tastemaking expertise with an understanding of viewing habits, and because there is such a high demand for short-form content on TV, we believe the TikTok trend has become the go-to show on TV. I hope it will.”
Evangelista added: The biggest screen in the house, the TV is the heart of the home and people love to lean back and enjoy content from their favorite artists and creators. ”
“We are thrilled to partner with Vevo to expand that experience across platforms, enhance the discovery process, and celebrate our community’s favorite songs and artists.”
