Tetrarch drummer Ruben Limas (far right in the band photo above) recently became an official US citizen.
The band shared the news on Thursday (February 23), the day Limas was officially granted citizenship. Their Instagram post shows the drummer wearing the band’s shirt, posing in front of the American and Homeland Security flags, and holding his own little American flag.
In his introduction to Modern Drummers 2017, Rimas writes about his background. She was fascinated by drums when she saw someone playing them in church, eventually playing in his makeshift kits made out of pots and pans her mother had made, and eventually herself. I got a kit for 10. He eventually joined his band on tour in Venezuela but revealed that the political situation in his country decided him to move to the US in 2014 out of fear for his safety. There he met members of his Tetrarch and joined the band in 2015. There’s no one else here and it was a perfect fit,” said the drummer at the time.
In a post sharing Ruben’s American citizenship, the band wrote: When I met Ruben eight years ago and he officially became a member of his Tetrarch, he recently moved here from Venezuela to pursue his dream of becoming a drummer. He knew very little English, but we connected with him on a deeper level than any language. it was the music. Eight years later, I couldn’t be more proud to have had him on this journey with us. We love and are proud of you @rubenoftetrarc!!!”
According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service, to become a U.S. citizen through naturalization, you must be at least 18 years old at the time of your application and have been a lawful permanent resident for the last three to five years. Continued residence and physical presence in the United States; ability to read, write, and speak basic English; demonstrate moral character; demonstrate knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government; principles of the U.S. Constitution Show allegiance to and gladly pledge allegiance.
As a member of Tetrarch, Limas has recorded two albums including their latest 2021. unstable album. The band is currently between records with no scheduled date.
