Taylor Hawkins’ Son Shane Wins ‘Performance of the Year’ Drum Award

Shane Hawkins, the teenage son of late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, has won Dramio’s 2022 Performance of the Year award in the drumming category.

The 16-year-old rocker was honored by the online drum lessons database last year for performing “My Hero” by the Foo Fighters with Dave Grohl’s band at two tribute concerts in honor of his father.

Other category winners included Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Jay Weinberg (Slipknot) and drummer Sarah Jones (Harry Styles).

To earn Performance of the Year, Shane had to “give a legendary, must-see performance at a full band event or solo studio video during 2022.”

He “put his heart and soul into a live performance of ‘My Hero’ in a tribute concert dedicated to his late father and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins,” Drameo explained. “He inspired millions and showed how much love, energy and spirit can come from a drum kit.”

Taylor died last year at the age of 50. The Foo Fighters and the Hawkins family hosted tribute concerts in London and Los Angeles last September. Earlier this year, the rock group vowed to make him memorable.Below, watch his award-winning Foo Fighters performance with Shane on drums below the Drumeo Awards video.Click here for more information on Dramio
