Springer Opera House music director to sing at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church on Christmas


Hamilton, Georgia (WRBL) — Want something fun for Christmas this year? Would you like to go to a concert? Debbie Anderson, musical director of the Springer Opera House, sings at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church on Christmas Day. He is invited to attend services regardless of where he usually goes to church. It is recommended to dress loosely.

“Their organist and choir master asked me to do it,” said Debbie. “His name is Kevin Anderson. He happens to be my nephew.”

Kevin said he invited his aunt to sing perhaps a few weeks ago.

“I was thinking about what hymns I wanted to choose for Christmas because we will have a Christmas service instead of Christmas Eve,” he said. “And then I found this hymn with this wonderful descant and thought, ‘It would be great if someone could sing that.’ It seemed

Kevin said that his aunt is a very good singer and that he enjoys working with her.

“Her caliber is truly unique to me,” he said. “I mean she has professionalism and she has incredible quality.”

He said the people of St. Nicholas were thrilled to hear Debbie sing.

“They’re like, ‘Debbie?'” he said. “And I’m like, ‘Yeah.’ They’re like, “Oh my God!” I mean, their eyes were just kind of glowing. ”

Debbie said she will probably sing about seven songs, including “O Holy Night,” “The Wexford Carol,” “Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella,” “Ding Dong Merrily on High,” and “Christmas Lullaby.”

She has sung professionally for over 40 years. She is currently a cantor and soloist at St. Thomas the Episcopal Church, and is also a soloist and music director at the Temple She is Cantorial in Israel, with Kevin as accompanist.

St. Nicholas Episcopal Church is located at 69 Mobley Rd. at Hamilton. Pre-service music begins at 10:45 am on Christmas Day, and church services begin at 11:00 am. If you are unable to attend the service in person, it will be streamed on the church’s Facebook page.
