Shawn Mendes admits cancelling world tour was ‘very difficult’

Shawn Mendes has called the decision to cancel his world tour “very difficult”.

The 24-year-old announced in July 2022 that he would be canceling his Wonder World Tour to focus on his mental health.

Reflecting on the decision in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the Stitches singer admitted it gave him time to heal, grow and work on himself.

“The process was very difficult. I did a lot of therapy and tried to understand how I was feeling and what was making me feel that way. I work to heal, and I also ask people in my life for a little help,” he explained.

“It’s been a lot of work, but I think the last year and a half has been the most spectacular, growing, beautiful and truly healing process of my life.”

The Treat You Better hitmaker thanked those who supported him throughout his journey.

“I also really appreciate all the people who have been so accepting, loving, kind and understanding. It really hit me,” added the Canadian star.

In a July statement, Sean promised fans that he would take time to “heal” and return.

And in an interview, he said he was now ready to return to his music career.

“I’m excited to get to a point where I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m ready to start working on some songs,'” he said.
