Shakira feels ‘complete’ after splitting from longtime partner Gerard Pique.
The Hips Don’t Lie singer and retired Spanish football star, who has two sons, announced in June that they were splitting up after 11 years together.
Shakira has since expressed her feelings about the split, Gerald’s alleged infidelity, and his new relationship in collaboration with Bizarup.
In Monday night’s interview with Mexican journalist Enrique Acevedo, the Colombian hitmaker said she agreed with the narrative that “women need men to complete themselves,” saying that one roof over one roof. He admitted that he had dreamed of having the whole family living together below.
“Not all dreams in life come true, but life somehow finds a way to make up for it. More than makes up for it with these two amazing kids who fill me with love every day.” I think there’s a thing, and I too have found the fable about women needing men to be false,” she said, reports MARCA.
The 46-year-old confessed that she had “always been emotionally dependent on men,” but since the breakup she has come to realize that she has had enough and can rely on herself.
“When a woman faced life’s onslaught, she grew stronger and stronger because she knew her weaknesses, accepted her vulnerabilities, felt and expressed her pain.” I believe that because I did the opposite of depression is an expression”, I was able to feel that I had enough. I feel completely right now,” she commented.
Shakira and Gerald have two sons, Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8. The sports star is currently dating PR student Clara Chia Marti.
