It’s been a decade since guitarist Richie Sambora left Bon Jovi, but the musician revealed in a new chat with ITV’s Absolute Radio that he’s been discussing returning to the group.
“We’re talking about it. I see no reason not to do it at this point,” the guitarist said when asked if he planned to reunite with the band.
Details on when this will occur are TBD and not entirely up to the guitarist. He elaborated later.
Sambora last appeared with the band at the 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, revealing he had a good relationship with the group’s frontman of the same name, adding, “No ill will.”
There’s been talk of his return, but that hasn’t delayed his pursuit of solo music. Yeah, it’s a lot of fun, it’s a great song, it’s exciting and I can’t wait to get out and play it again.”
He continued, “I don’t know when Jon will speak out and[the Bon Jovi reunion]will happen, but we have to get out there and really do it for the fans. Hmm. I feel a second duty.”
He also shared his enthusiasm for writing with the band, stating, “I am in tears.”
He continues: But songwriting is conceptual. You have to have a concept. It’s a story. Sometimes it comes from looking out the window and observing, and a lot of times it comes from my own life, and for most of Bon Jovi, my life is more important than anyone else in the band. It was much (more) colorful!”
Sambora just finished a stint on the UK version masked singerwhere he appeared as a “jacket potato”.
