New Year, New Music – Eugene Weekly


Between the pandemic and economic pressures, the live music industry enters 2023 on uncertain footing. Her recent Ticketmaster-Taylor Swift ticket meltdown only makes things worse. And locally, Eugene has turned the page to her 2022, losing her one of the leading music venues for emerging artists, Sessions Music Hall. However, on New Year’s Eve there are still plenty of live performances in town.

Most notably, the Portland-based rock band and longtime favorite of Eugene’s audience, floaterpresents a version of Pink Floyd’s classic record animal at the McDonald’s Theater. Floater as a whole is Alter, released in 2002 and a favorite from their own catalog for the 20th anniversary of that album. 9 p.m., $25 advance, $30 at door, all ages.

Nostalgia Continues at Led Zeppelin Tribute Act in Southern Oregon living loving lead Take over WOW Hall The Fabulous Del Monte Brothers featuring Bishop Mayfield. 8pm, $25. Elsewhere, an eclectic Portland band World’s finest Play along with local jazz-influenced jam rockers spange At Whirled Pies; 9pm, $24 advance, $30 at the door, 21+.

At Mac’s Nightclub and Restaurant in Willamette’s Vet’s Club, “My Band” by Darling Jackson For eclectic pop covers. 8 p.m., $10 advance, $15 at the door, 21+.In the ballroom of the Veterinary Club, energetic funk and soul Soulstruck9:30 p.m., $10 advance, $15 at door, 21+. Tickets for both Darline Jackson and SoulStruck are $20.

Head to the White Acre District Old Nick’s 7th Annual New Year’s Eve Speakeasy Party Complimentary electro swing performances, craft and art vendors, and hors d’oeuvres and cakes from Black Blossom Bakery. The festivities end with a champagne toast and a ball drop. $7 prepaid, $13 door with costume, $15 door, no costume; 21+.
