“It was a great experience,” said Jones. “We have met some really great people in connection with this venture that we have been pursuing.”
Held on the 4th Tuesday of each month, the Music Cafe was created as a performance opportunity for musicians of all experience levels. Musicians usually sign up in advance to attend.
The line-up for the December show includes Steve Adkison at 7pm, Ed Stapleton at 7:40pm and Dan Erdman at 8:20pm.
In the 23 years since the Music Café began, it has hosted approximately 269 shows and more than 525 performers. The belly dance troupe, Circle of Rhiannon, and Tribal Belly Dance Troupe were the most attended shows of the series. The Music Café started at the Fitton Center in 1999 and moved to the Miami Regionals Downtown Hamilton Center in 2017.
The series features local, regional and national acts.
“When you look at it, it’s one of those things that asks if this is something that should be continued or if it should be released. So this is a good time for us to say goodbye,” said Webster. It’s fun, it’s a labor of love, and the performers were amazing, they show up and give it their all.”
When I started Music Café, there weren’t many live venues and places, and it’s already been 23 years. Due to COVID-19, the series was closed for a while.
“People who attended the Music Café loved the show. It’s a situation,” Jones said.
