Miley Cyrus is all about self-love in new single ‘Flowers’.
The new single and music video, which arrived Thursday night, tell the story of going through a breakup and realizing you can thrive on your own outside of a relationship.
“I didn’t want to leave you/I didn’t want to lie/I started crying but then I remembered/I could buy myself flowers/Write my name in the sand/For hours Talking to myself/Saying things you don’t understand/I can dance myself/And I can hold your hand/Yeah, I can love you more than you.” and Miley sing on the track.
Likewise, the visuals tell the same story. The video begins with the pop star looking melancholy in a golden hooded ensemble, and after crossing a bridge, breaks out of her funk and begins to embrace her newfound freedom.
She dances with her hair up and dances her way home, where she takes a dip in the pool and enjoys her workout. After showering, the pop star puts on a chic black suit and dances freely.
“Flowers” is the first single from Cyrus’ eighth studio album, “Endless Summer Vacation”. It comes nearly three years after her last album, Plastic Hearts, which featured Dua Lipa, “Midnight Sky,” “Angels Like You,” and “Prisoner.”
Cyrus first teased the new project in her special “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party,” sharing a teaser clip for the song and music video.
“Endless Summer Vacation” will be released on March 10th. “Flowers” is available now.
