Metallica Get Introspective During Shoot For ‘Screaming Suicide’

A few weeks after the release of “Lux Æterna,” Metallica have shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the song’s music video. Shortly after releasing the 2nd single, 72 seasons“Screaming Suicide,” Metallica gave fans another glimpse into their creative process.

“For this video, we want to do something a little different than the previous one,” director Tim Sassenti tells Lars Ulrich. “It’s a little different than the stadium projection. A little more inside. Play with yourself.

Ulrich responded positively, admitting he’s been playing the song himself for the past few weeks.

Many of the new videos tell fans all the work and focus that went into making the official music video for “Screaming Suicide,” but they also show the bright side of some of the band members. At one point, James Hetfield is seen messing around with Ulrich’s drum kit, and at another, Robert Trujillo is so good at headbanging that he pulls his hair out of his mouth.

Hetfield asked Sassenti how he performed in the video. The music director for “LuxÆterna”, who led the production of his video, agreed, saying, “It’s loose. You can feel the progression of the song.”

In Sassenti’s answer, Hetfield told himself he was “introspective.”
