Maren Morris He continues to speak out on issues in the country music industry regarding issues such as homophobia, transphobia, a general lack of inclusiveness and openness to the LGBTQ+ community, and racism and sexism.
Now, on behalf of the industry, she’s apologizing for her horrific relationship with the queer community throughout country music’s history.
Morris appears RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untuckedspeak openly with the contestant.
She told drag queens, “I just want to say sorry, coming from country music and its relationship with its LGBTQ+ members.” Contestants were visibly moved by her emotions.
The 32-year-old also thanked everyone who supported her, saying, “I love you guys for making me feel like a brave voice in country music. So you inspire me.” Thank you so much for doing that.”
Several contestants thanked her for her comments, and when Morris finished her statement, she said, “I’m going to cry, I have to go.”
One queen of the show responded, “Just being here shows you’re on the side.”
A staff member then had to interrupt the conversation and take Morris to another production area, ending the meaningful conversation.

She said, “I’m a white woman in country music. I’ve already dominated the field. There’s a huge divide between men and women in our genre, but there’s a big divide between white women and black women.” There’s an even bigger divide in being in country music.”
Morris continued, “There are so many black women and men who adore country music and don’t feel the door is open for them.
