Madonna’s brother Anthony Ciccone has died at the age of 66.
On Saturday, Joe Henry took to social media to announce that his brother-in-law passed away on Friday.
Alongside black-and-white photography, Joe described Anthony as a “complex character” and also considered him a “true brother”.
“Worries fade away. And families remain – reach across the table. Goodbye, brother Anthony,” he wrote. “Your blessed mother (and my mother) believed I like to believe that God is there waiting to receive you. No one can dissuade me from this vision, at least today.”
Joe is married to Madonna and Anthony’s sister, Melanie Ciccone.
The Queen of Pop has yet to comment on this sad news.
But her friend Debi Mazar posted a tribute to Instagram on Sunday remembering Anthony as a “real Renaissance man.”
“Full of prose, a lover of literature, his Italian heritage, good wine and food,” the actress posted. nurtured my young soul.I will always choose to remember his kindness and smile.My condolences to his entire family.He was very much loved.”
