Lana Del Rey’s Father, ‘Accidental Musician’ Rob Grant, Prepping Debut Album, ‘Lost At Sea’


Lana Del Rey isn’t the only one in the family who has the chops.Her dad, Rob Grant, is getting into the music business when he releases his debut album this summer: “Rob Grant is here! And the rumors are true! My new album lost at sea It will be released June 9,” Grant wrote on Instagram, along with an album cover image of the brave, heartfelt singer staring out to sea as seagulls swarm around him.

Grant also released the collection’s first single, the majestic instrumental piano ballad “Setting Sail on a Distant Horizon.” It was co-produced by Jack Antonoff and Luke Howard, frequent collaborators of Del His Ray. Lana doesn’t appear on the song, though she reportedly adds vocals to two other songs on the album, while the singer makes a smiling cameo in a promotional video posted by Grant.

According to the label Decca Records Grant, Grant’s work is that of a recognized amateur with a passion for music. “Grant, an accidental recording artist, has never taken an instrument lesson in his life. Things like that happen,” the label’s website explains.

“The notes flow from him, the composition after the composition. As the father of international icon Lana Del Rey, he brought together many talents to contribute to the production of the album. The collection promises production by Antonoff, Howard, Laura Sisk, and Zach Dawes, as well as feature and writing assistance from his famous daughter.

Del Rey new album Did you know there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvdwill be released on March 24th.
