International Eye LA, presenter of “Music, Masquerade, Spectacle!”, will introduce world-famous artist Bernard Hoyes as a featured artist and collaborate with event producer Marie Kellier. Participants explore the intersectionality of art, culture and personal values. Using inspiration/prompts from the discussion, participants design and build their own ‘Carnival Crown’ (headdress), ‘Carnival Kover’ (Jonconne Mask), or ‘Carnival Kick’ (decorated shoes), Take away. .
Hoyes’ acclaimed work, including his revival series, is in the collections of such luminaries as Oprah Winfrey, Keenan Ivory Wayans and Capitol Records in Hollywood, CA. He has contributed to Kingston restoration projects in as far away as China, across the United States and in his hometown of Kingston, Jamaica.

The event is free, but registration through Eventbrite is required to ensure you get the right materials for the personal artwork you create during the workshop.
