Kate Hudson Signs With Jason Owen and Sandbox Entertainment for Move Into Music (EXCLUSIVE)


Kate Hudson has teased the release of her debut album and has signed a deal with Jason Owen and his Sandbox Entertainment Group to take exclusive control of her musical endeavors. She joins a roster of Nashville-based management firms that includes hitmakers Kacey Musgraves, Dan + Shay, Kelsea Ballerini and Faith Hill.

“Music has always been my touchstone,” Hudson said in a statement. Writing this album over the past year and a half has been the most satisfying and immersive experience and I couldn’t be more excited to work with Jason to bring it to the world. I can’t wait to start running with him on other creative ventures.”

Known for her starring roles in Almost Famous and How to Lose a Man in 10 Days, Hudson is entering the world of music just as her acting prominence has peaked again. Netflix hit “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”. She has appeared in Broadway film adaptations of her musical ‘Nine’, Sia’s ‘Music’ (for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award), and television her series ‘Glee.

Hudson first publicly acknowledged that she was transitioning to a music career in a tweet last April, posting a photo of herself in the studio to Instagram, writing: She further talked about it in an interview on ‘The Tonight Show’ in mid-December, in which she told Jimmy Fallon: I say, “I’m in her early 40s…not yet.” But during COVID I was like, “What am I doing?” I thought that would be one of my big regrets. …I didn’t expect it. I just want to put out a record, so I’m doing it. And I’m really proud of it. i can’t wait. “

Owen is known for his career-building work with Shania Twain and Sandbox’s current roster, spearheading Musgraves’ multi-genre success.Owen named Director of the Year variety2019 Hitmakers event. Sandbox has also expanded into TV and film production in recent years. Owen is now venturing into the world of legal theater as a producer on the musical comedy “Shucked,” which hits Broadway in April.

Beyond its new partnership with Sandbox, Hudson will continue to be represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment, Full Coverage Entertainment and Jakoway Austin Tyrmann Wartheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner & Klein.
