Karol G Kicks-Off 2023 Viña del Mar: Sings with Myriam Hernandez & More


After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the popular Viña del Mar kicked off Sunday night (19th February) with Karol G as the headliner.

Dressed in baby pink, a sweetheart dress, ankle-high socks, white sneakers and a bright red hairstyle, the Colombian artist performed a 1 hour 30 minute set full of “bichota” in front of 15,000 people.

“Hey Chile, what’s up?” she asked the audience after opening her set with “Gatubela” and “El Poblado (Remix).” “What an energy dig (nice). I was really looking forward to this day. ”

Accompanied by a group of 12 co-ed dancers and her all-female girl band, Karol sang completely live, “Bichota,” “200 Copas,” “Ocean,” “Tusa,” and “MAMII.” played hit songs such as before wrapping with the EDM version of “Provenza.”

But this wasn’t just a Karol G concert. There were special guests, meaningful fan moments, and more. See highlights below.

Karol G, who has done many solo collaborations such as ‘Gato Malo’ with Nathy Peluso, invited two special guests to the Viña set. First, she called Chilean newcomer Chris MJ to perform her unreleased “Noche de Medellin (Remix)” for the first time. “Unfortunately, this song never came out,” she said before the two acts sang together. They sang a powerful duet of the 2009 hit “El Hombre Que Yo Amo”. “It’s been 17 years since I came here. [Viña]Thank you for inviting me,” Hernandez said after the song.

During her set, Karol G wowed fans by singing the opening track of her upcoming album. tomorrow will be beautiful It’s called “Mientras Me Curo del Cora”. She dedicated a Hawaii-inspired song to her new baby sister.

A gift from Gaviota to a fan

Karol G made history as the first female urban artist to headline Viña del Mar, receiving the coveted silver and gold gaviota (trophy) in the process. Towards the end of her set, Karol invited “mini-bichotas” (young fans) on stage to show off her amazing dance moves. The host then stated to Karol that he would send another Gaviota to her home.

Not only did Karol interact with fans, but he also called out Argentinian artists Nikki Nicole and Emilia Melnes, who at one point were enjoying the show. She also expressed how proud she is to be part of this generation of empowered female voices, including Paloma Mami, Tini and others.

For the first time in more than 60 years, the Viña del Mar International Song Festival will be streamed live in the United States via Billboard.com, Billboard’s YouTube channel and Twitter @Billboard. The six-day festival continues on February 20th at Tini. Alejandro Fernandez on February 21st. Fito Páez on February 22nd. Christina Aguilera on February 23rd. It ends in Camilo on February 24th.
