Jan 22 | Music at Kohl: Maxwell Quartet

The Maxwell Quartet is firmly established as one of Britain’s finest young string quartets with a strong connection to its folk music heritage. Special to this concert is the premiere of a new composition based on songs related to the Scottish jute and tweed industry in Dundee and the Hebridean Islands. Formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2010, the Maxwell Quartet is now an internationally award-winning string quartet (2017 Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition) whose performances have been described by The New York Times as “eloquent performers.” …they bring the same charisma and sensibility. The adventure to their playing…the traditional fiddle sound carried over beautifully to fresh readings of Haydn and Beethoven.” He is a distinguished visiting faculty member at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music in Glasgow and the Paxton Music Festival on the Scottish Borders.
