The Ed Harlow Quartet takes you to musical paradise through inspired originals and jazz classics. Join us for an evening of music with four of Boston’s leading musicians.
Marshfield native, saxophonist, composer and educator Ed Harlow Based near Boston since 1987. The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Artishaw Orchestra, Volovorode He has toured the United States, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, France and the Caribbean with groups such as Boston. Mr. Harlow has also performed with such notable artists as Tony Bennett, The Temptations, Johnny Mathis, Danilo Perez and Paquito Dribera.
Harlow is also the founder of the Soul Jazz Foundation, which uses music events to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. The Foundation hosts the annual Soul Jazz Festival in Northborough, Massachusetts. The festival features a solar-powered sound system with multiple jazz bands.
bassist Keala Kaumehaiwa I learned jazz bass and improvisation from legendary bassist Ron Carter as part of my first class at Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance at the New England Conservatory. Keira has worked with Jimmy Heath, Jackie McLean, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Wynton Marsalis, Bobby Watson, Harry Sweets Edison and James Moody. Since 2001, Keala has been his MIT associate artist, teaching jazz his combo his ensemble. In addition to performing at the Havana Jazz Festival throughout Italy, he has worked freelance around Boston, frequently performing at Sculler’s Jazz Club, Ryles, Wally’s Jazz Cafe, and his Regattabar.
Mark Siransky A prolific musician who has appeared on over 60 recordings as a producer, composer, arranger, pianist and/or vocalist. Jamie Baum, Jerry Bergonzi, The New York Voice, Rebecca Paris, Luciana Souza, David Thorne He has also performed with Scott. , Syncopation, Lisa Thorson, Kenny Wheeler, Adrian Sicum, Patrice Williamson, Regattabar, Scholars, Lyles, International Association for Jazz Education Convention, Birdland, Blue Note Jazz Club, etc. Recordings as a leader at the venue include First Look (1997), Different Songs (2000), Other Voices (2003), Join the Club (2007), Fugue Mill (2013). Siransky is an associate professor, drummer and composer at Berklee College of Music.
Brooke Sofaman A revolutionary force on his instrument, he leads his group with original compositions, sublime accompaniment, and a unique style of improvisation. Rather than imitate, Sofferman aims to reflect the times we live in and blaze new trails. Sofferman is a frequent leader and sideman on the Boston music scene and a prolific composer.
