Foo Fighters have announced that they will continue as a band following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March last year.
In an Instagram post, the rock group looked back on 2022, calling it “the most difficult and tragic year our band has ever had” and calling it “the people we love and care the most, And our loved ones who are no longer with us.”
They said they would see fans “soon”, but without Hawkins, “it would be a different band from now on.”
The post says:
“And over the past 27 years, our fans have built a global community – a dedicated support system that has helped us all get through our darkest times together.
“A place where we share our joys and pains, our hopes and fears, and join the chorus of life through music.”
They also paid tribute to Hawkins, who recorded eight studio albums with the band as a key member of the Foo Fighters and their evolution.
“Without Taylor, we wouldn’t be the band we are today.
“We also know you, a fan, meant as much to Taylor as he meant to you. And when we see you again.” , and we soon know that he will be there in spirit with all of us every night.
Previously touring drummer for Sass Jordan and Alanis Morissette, and drummer for the Sylvia Band, Hawkins will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021 as a member of the Foo Fighters.
In 2005, he was voted ‘Best Rock Drummer’ by British drum magazine Rhythm.
His death in Bogota, Colombia in 2022 at the age of 50 shocked the music world, drawing tributes from Sir Mick Jagger, Sir Elton John, Queen drummer Roger Taylor, Miley Cyrus, Liam Gallagher and more. I was.

No cause of death has been released, but toxicology reports found traces of 10 different substances in Hawkins’ system, including opioids, marijuana and antidepressants.
Last September, two concerts were held in Hawkins’ honor, one at Wembley Stadium in London and the other at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
