Ellie Goulding thought she would have no career to return to if she didn’t return to work as soon as her son was born.
In retrospect, the ‘Easy Lover’ hitmaker said it was ‘too early’ to return to the music studio just three weeks after the birth of her first child, Arthur, with husband Casper Jopling in May 2021. But she was in “survival mode.” ”.
The pop star was quoted in the Daily Star’s Wired column as:
“I was looking back at some pictures Arthur’s grandma sent me and I was like, ‘Oh, he misses you.’ He was only three weeks old and I was I was already back in the studio.
“Considering how small he was and how young he was, I can’t believe I left him to go to work, but I went into survival mode.
“I think we all thought, ‘Yeah, we have to kickstart back to reality and normalcy,’ and then we did it.”
The “Love Me Like You Do” singer admits that streaming expects artists to put out new music all the time — and it’s exhausting.
Ellie adds:
“I can’t see you when you get off the train”
The 36-year-old star also teased that her new Calvin Harris collaboration should start soon.
she said:
“It’s good to be back in the studio with him.
“We’re obviously doing good things together, so I thought, ‘Yeah, why not?’
“This song is exactly our song, but it’s a little different and maybe not what people expect.”
The singer and DJ will release new tracks following 2013’s dance-pop tune ‘Need Your Love’ and 2014’s ‘Outside’.
Ellie will also release her fifth studio album, Higher Than Heaven, on March 24th.
