Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott Hospitalized for Altitude Sickness + Still Performs in Colombia

Def Leppard faced a brief scare last Friday (February 24) in Columbia when vocalist Joe Elliott was hospitalized with “moderate to severe altitude sickness.” Luckily, he was able to perform last night (February 25th) in Bogota as part of his 2023 co-headlining ‘World Tour’ with Motley and his crew. .

As reported by Blabbermouth, Elliott was taken to Bogota’s Clinica de Marly hospital shortly after Def Leppard arrived for the tour’s third show. He was “experiencing dyspnea, the medical term for dyspnea or shortness of breath.”

Unsurprisingly, Def Leppard posted a video about the incident on social media yesterday afternoon (February 25th) with the caption, “Special captain log from Joe – ‘I’m here, 8pm. I’ll leave on time!” he muttered. In it, Elliot can be seen outside the Parque Simon Bolivar (where they played last night).

Mini Captain’s Log. February 25, 2023, Bogota, Colombia. As you can see, I am here. [it’s] 5:20 PM, departs at 8:00 PM. Therefore, I am alive and well. I’m a little fed up, to be honest. Severe – moderate to severe altitude sickness.I don’t want to know how severe altitude sickness is [is]I don’t want to wish that on my worst enemy. But here we are. Now, everyone, please take a good rest. Apparently, the Internet has brightened up. I’m here and I’m leaving at 8pm.

As expected, the post received a lot of positive responses. For example, one user wrote: Jet lag/air sickness sucks. Take care of yourself dear. You’re going to demolish a house in Bogota tonight! ”

In fact, Elliott joined Def Leppard for a scheduled performance and by all accounts put on a great show. In fact, the group posted a follow-up tweet of him this morning (February 26th) with some pictures and the following message: Thank you for rocking with us and showing your love! Lima – next is you!”

Elliott also talked about the situation last night between songs [via Ultimate Classic Rock] :

Before I go any further, I would like to sincerely thank all the staff at Marley Hospital for taking care of me last night. I was feeling a little under the weather. We call it altitude sickness. There is another word that cannot be pronounced. I made it, you made it, and thanks to them, that’s why I’m here.
