About the ongoing series occam deltaFrench composer Elian Radig (b.1932) has collaborated with various performers and has moved in this century from primarily electronic works to music for acoustic instruments. Occam Delta XV (Actuelle) is dedicated For Bozzini, premiered in Montreal in 2018. Radigue’s music is always in flux. The sound doesn’t seem to change, but it does so almost imperceptibly. The business of listening, as the liner notes explain, is part of meditation, increased concentration, or “over-awareness.” From long sustained chords, microtones and harmonic thunders eventually become audible. This process is a powerful antidote to a world of short attention spans. Turn off your phone and find the difference between the two different versions.
