Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute Announces Renée Fleming’s ‘SongStudio’ 2023


Renée Fleming’s SongStudio program will return to Carnegie Hall Weill Institute of Music (WMI) in January this year.

Scheduled for January 30-February On January 4, 2023, the program will introduce a series of emerging vocalists and co-pianists under the tutelage of world-renowned artists, including Fleming himself. During last year’s program, artists received masterclasses from such artists as baritone Christian Gerhaher, pianist Graham Johnson and countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo.

It all culminates in a recital at the Zanker Hall on February 4, 2023.

Last year’s participants included Kathryn Henry, Tamra Grace Jones, Mar Wohlgemut, Maile Therese Carmack, Deepa Johnny, Daniel Moody, Lawrence Kirsby, Joseph Parrish, Samuel Kidd, Yu・Wu was included.

‘SongStudio’ is a major component of the Carnegie Hall Weill Institute’s 2023 Initiative, which also includes programs led by Claire Chase and ‘The B-Side’, which introduces young people to the business side of the music industry .

Offerings feature a wide range of musical traditions and art forms, including classical music, jazz, hip-hop, and more, reflecting the hall’s diverse programming history on stage and engaging people with highly meaningful educational opportunities. We support the innate creativity of people of all ages through programs in New York City and beyond in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, correctional facilities, community centers and homeless shelters. We believe that everyone has the ability to be an artist, and how music and the arts are a way for people to express themselves and speak up. I often witness it firsthand.”
