Tiki Night – Moon Mullins / Sam Evian / Hannah Cohen
Tubby’s (Kingston) @ 7pm
Winter is tiki season in the Hudson Valley. A glass or two of strong tropical cocktails he revitalizes mind and body, and exotic soundscapes guide our attention to warmer climates while on vacation. But this isn’t an old paper umbrella tiki-themed night looped by Martin Denny and Esquivel: Moon Mullins plays spacey, subdued exotica to her rhythm of familiar tiki music Oceania. Sam Evian has a similar acoustic texturing, but he’s brighter, like Mac Demarco.

Ashokan Center (Olive Bridge) @ Full Day
The scene at the Ashokhan Center is a one-of-a-kind experience. Here, the Catskills’ simpler way of life has been preserved from a time too distant to be nostalgic. But the ‘old guardians’ of mountain folk culture gracefully pass on these traditions to the younger generation in such a rare and majestic location.
Square dancing and communal choirs may seem anachronistic to outsiders looking to their smartphones, but for attendees, they’re a panacea for the extra distractions of these times. . In addition to the community cheer, the deck is filled with folk luminaries to warm even the coldest hearts.

Chris Brokaw & Jennifer O’Connor
Tubby’s (Kingston) @ 6pm
The pedigree of this duo is undeniable. Brokaw is performing with his Codeine (yes, they’ll have his reunion show in 2023). Don’t worry. It is safe even if bodily fluids fly. With a slow core/post rock approach you have plenty of time to dodge the fluids.
O’Connor is equally adept, having recorded with Matador and Kiam, played and toured with Wilco, Feist, Yo La Tengo, Dump, Mountain Goats and more. Her style is a little more bluesy and understated, and her vocal timbre glows like a neon through her bar with a smoky dive.

WRRV Session – Lovelytheband / Mike Mack

“I like you lonely / Lonely like me / I can be lonely with you” is the kind of pop refrain that makes lyrical earworms.Los Angeles The group Lovely The Band found themselves when their song “Broken” became a major radio hit. reminiscent of Across a catalog of upbeat-yet-melancholic bands whistling at work, you’ll find indie tributes to his pop greats. A song with just enough of a shoegaze edge to give it a creative, sophisticated sheen.
