Beck and Wonder first worked together in 1972, the latter producing what would become his classic LP. talking bookThe duo was introduced by producers Robert Malguref and Malcolm Cecil, with Wonder having Beck perform a solo on the album’s “Lookin’ for Another Pure Love”.
“I didn’t really know much about him,” Wonder said of Beck. and I said to him, “Would you like to play with this?” He thought it would be great. He put one part, then another, then another. It was great. ”
While in the studio, Wonder and Beck were messing around with another song Wonder wrote at the time, “Superstition”. Wonder had originally agreed to provide Beck with tracks from a new group of guitarists, Beck, Bogart & Appice. That trio recorded “Superstition” first, but Motown, recognizing the track’s hit single potential, decided to eventually stop Beck, Bogart & Appice from releasing their self-titled 1973 debut album. Still, the trio’s take on “Superstition” served as one of Beck’s best recordings. Beck later recorded two more of his Wonder His tracks, “Cause We’ve Ended as Lovers” and “Thelonius”, for his 1975 LP. blow blowand reunited with Wonder to perform “Superstition” at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 25th Anniversary Show in 2009.

As a fan, I know that a song takes you back in time – you are there right there in the moment.
